Women set up about 40% of businesses but secure less than 3% of VC capital. If you are a woman entrepreneur you would want to know how to be one of the 3%. If you are a male entrepreneur - why should you care?
Because research shows that assumptions on why this happens are wrong and that these issues have much broader causes and consequences, impacting product design, supply chain, marketing, user experience, buyer decision making. Basically the whole business. A lot of value is lost. Value for founders (regardless of gender), value for customers and value for investors.
So what can we learn from those few women that have successfully secured cash? What have they done right in building their businesses and in managing to attract the right kind of investor? How can we apply those lessons to our own businesses day to day?
